The Dodgers are taking it slow with 20-year old lefty swinging outfielder Andrew Lambo. Lambo was the Dodgers’ top prospect coming into this season according to Baseball America. But, the Dodgers are deep in the outfield and can give Lambo the time to develop that he needs. Lambo has played in 100 games in AA-ball this season and he is 103 for 387 (.266 avg, .744 OPS) with 59 runs scored, 10 homers and 44 RBIs. The Dodgers did well in not letting the Orioles talk them into adding Lambo in the George Sherrill trade.

The Dodgers have sent 19-year old lefty Michael Watt and 20-year old righty Eduardo Perez to the Padres to complete the trade for Greg Maddux. Watt started 15 games in rookie ball this season for the Dodgers and he was 9-4 with a 4.35 ERA and a 1.39 WHIP. Perez pitched in 12 games (10 starts) in rookie ball and he was 4-3 with a 3.38 ERA and a 1.30 WHIP. Neither Watt nor Perez was considered much of a prospect so this was a small price to pay for a Hall of Fame pitcher.
