The Los Angeles Dodgers acquire SS Angel Berroa from the Royals
The Dodgers have acquired 30-year old righty swinging shortstop Angel Berroa and cash from the Royals for 21-year old switch hitting shortstop Juan Rivera. Berroa has played in 51 games in AAA ball this season and he was 55 for 189 (.291 avg, .842 OPS) with 34 runs scored, 10 homers, 27 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. Berroa was in the dog house in KC but he will join the Dodgers today and he should get a lot of playing time until Rafael Furcal is ready to return. Berroa has played in 627 games in his major league career and he is 606 for 2,300 (.263 avg, .689 OPS) with 293 runs scored, 45 homers, 235 RBIs and 50 stolen bases. Juan Rivera is not much of a prospect. He has played in 10 games in Low-A ball this season and he is 7 for 29 (.241 avg, .612 OPS) with 2 runs scored and 3 RBIs. This move should help the Dodgers.
