The Los Angeles Dodgers acquire Scott Proctor from the Yankees for Wilson Betemit
The Dodgers have acquired right handed reliever Scott Proctor for Wilson Betemit. Proctor will help the Dodgers shorten games and he’s a workhorse that can pitch in a lot. Proctor has pitched in 52 games this season for the Yankees and he was 2-5 with a 3.81 ERA and a 1.51 WHIP. In 54.1 innings this season he has allowed 53 hits, walked 29 batters and whiffed 37. Proctor has had a decent career with the Yanks covering 190 games (1 start) in which he was 11-10 with 1 save, a 4.29 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. In 226.1 innings with the Yankees he allowed 217 hits, walked 93 batters and whiffed 183.
Wilson Betemit was a huge disappointment to the Dodgers as he lost his starting job because of his poor play. The Dodgers shifted Nomar Garciaparra to Betemit’s spot and started playing James Loney at first base. Betemit played in 84 games this season for the Dodgers and he was 36 for 156 (.231 avg, .833 OPS) with 22 runs scored, 10 homers and 26 RBIs. This was a good trade for both teams as they filled needs on their rosters.
